Free health screening programmes for Malaysians (2023)

In conjunction with Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS), the Ministry of Health has rolled out the Jom Saring National Health Screening Initiative under one of the ANMS’ main thrusts to encourage the people to monitor their own health for disease prevention and early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Various governmental agencies have also launched programmes to encourage Malaysians in carrying out health check-ups, especially for those who are 40 years old and above and have not done any health screening for the past 3 years.

Ministry of Health (MOH)

All governmental clinic (Klinik Kesihatan) in Malaysia provides free health screening for Malaysians aged 40 and above through walk-in or through online appointments for selected locations.

Eligibility

Malaysians aged 40 and above.

  • Blood pressure
  • Blood glucose level
  • Blood cholesterol level
  • Smoking status
Ministry of Health (MOH) free health screening

Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk B40 (PeKa B40)

In collaboration with MOH and private clinics registered under PeKa B40, ProtectHealth Malaysia (PHM), a non-profit organisation formed under MOH not only provides free health screening but also financial aid for follow-up healthcare treatment and medical equipment, incentive for completing cancer treatment, and transport incentive.

Eligibility

Recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) (previously known as Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM)) and their registered spouses who are 40 years old and above. You can check your eligibility on the PeKa B40 website.

  • Medical history taking
  • Mental health screening
  • Physical examination
  • Clinical breast examination / clinical prostate examination
  • Blood and urine tests (full blood count, blood sugar level, cholesterol level, kidney function)

PERKESO (SOCSO)

Employees who are actively contributing to SOCSO under the Disability Scheme can install the SEHATi mobile app to check their eligibility and schedule appointment for health screening through a panel clinic.

Eligibility

  • Active SOCSO contributors of at least 12 months.
  • Aged 40 and above or between age 30 to 39 with NCD health risks.

PERKESO (SOCSO) free health screening

Subsidised health screening under the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN)

LPPKN offers subsidised health screening packages at Klinik Nur Sejahtera for women through walk-in.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), NCDs are the main cause of death and disability in Malaysia, costing the country’s economy more than RM9.65 billion a year. Hence, early detection of chronic diseases through health screening is important for effective treatment and implementation of prevention methods to decrease the risk of NCDs.
