5 Travel Tips & Information during Covid-19

As Malaysia will enter an endemic phase on April 1, 2022, fully vaccinated travelers will not be required to quarantine when returning to Malaysia (requirement to enter Malaysia). Other countries have also extended their borders to welcome visitors in order to enhance the tourism industry and economy.

Traveling during Covid-19 is very different from what we are used to. As part of the virus precautions, we have to go through additional processes such as testing and mandatory quarantine.

Plan your Covid-19 test ahead

For pre-departure and arrival, check to see if you need an Antigen Test or a PCR test, depending on your destination. Do you need to make an appointment for an on-arrival test? This makes it easier to prepare for your Covid-19 tests in advance, which reduces stress and saves you money on testing expenses at the last minute.
If you’re traveling to Malaysia, no appointment is needed for arrival test. You may perform arrival test with CLEA Professional Covid-19 Screening anytime within 24 hours of arrival hassle-free. Check out how.

Purchase Covid-19 Travel Insurance

Many countries require travel medical insurance that covers medical treatment and hospitalization costs for Covid-19 if a traveler contacts it during their trip. Ensure sufficient coverage as travelers will have to pay for their own treatment costs beyond their insurance coverage.

Keep yourself safe

When you reach your destination, continue to take all the precautions to keep yourself and those around you safe from COVID-19. Wear a mask in public, especially indoors or when physical distancing is not possible. Keep a distance of at least 1 metre while disembarking, in queues and in transport. Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or hand sanitizer.

Be prepared if you tested positive

Report to medical authorities if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. While COVID-19 can be asymptomatic, the most common symptoms are fever, dry cough and fatigue. Other symptoms that are less common include loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, conjunctivitis (also known as red eyes), sore throat, headache, muscle or joint pain, skin rash, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, chills and dizziness.

If you have these symptoms, find out what other steps you need to take. Obtain the emergency contact information for your local health centre. If you have shortness of breath, or pain or pressure in the chest, seek medical attention immediately.
